ARE YOU LOSING YOUR COOL FASTER THAN USUAL?
There's something about this lockdown time that compounds all our usual fears, daily failures, and feelings of lack into a pretty intense emotional roller coaster. Are you feeling like this too? ~ Mostly I'm good, then good turns into okay, then, for seemingly no reason at all: the tension on my emotional-rubber-band snaps and what I've been trying to hold in, comes flooding out on my unsuspecting husband. Ugh! That feeling is the worst. Especially since I'd been doing so well for so long. ~ Then this realization came: we are all essentially running an emotional marathon with no defined end. And a marathon requires extra support, nutrients, and rest. Who am I kidding thinking I can handle this alone? I can't!! ~ Here's my new marathon plan: ~ SUPPORT • Double dose on my prayer, giving my messy thoughts and feelings to God AS they arise, not just book-ending my day with platitudes.
• Reach out to friends I trust more often than usual. Share my frustrations, ask their Godly advice and actually take it. ~ NUTRIENTS Read more - Bible, devotionals, and stories of believers going through struggles gives a roadmap for dealing with marathon level stress and fatigue. ~ REST Take a full, 100% sabbath. One whole day with no work, just delighting (music, cooking, nature, family) letting Jesus unravel all my striving and feeble independence. ~ This is not a time to struggle alone, trust me, I tried! ~
