INADEQUATE - BUT STEPPING FORWARD ANYWAY

Do you ever think you have NOTHING left to give?
~ A few months ago I did something crazy... It was the busiest work season of my life, I was barely breathing, no time to even see my family - and then I left them for 3 days to be a Foster Camp Counselor.
It made no sense. Let someone else do it! I clearly had nothing left to give. But, I couldn't shake the feeling, 'WHO WAS I' if I didn't answer the call to fill this desperate need?
So, I dragged my stressed out, barely-coping body & mind to a weekend in the mountains with 30 Foster teens I didn't know. 1 hour in, and my city-stress literally dissolved and my heart burst open for these teens who had experienced so much loss and pain, now just trying to live their own lives, and find their identity, out of the shadow of their parents' mistakes and neglect.
After camp, an invitation to mentor our camper... Well, I definitely didn't have time for that!! A month passed, and the niggling feeling would not go away. So, I dragged my inadequate soul forward one more time.
Yesterday, I met my mentee for the first time. I literally felt the hand of God gently push me forward as I, again, worried that I had nothing to give. But I did. We talked, we laughed, I had my first boba tea. Turns out, the gift of showing up was all she needed.
NEVER believe the lie you have nothing left to give.
If you woke up today, there's some 'give' left in you - if only, you push through your inadequacy to the gift waiting on the other side. - MY FREEDOM FIGHTERS BLOG https://www.bessiebarker.com/my-freedom-blog - FREEDOM DAILY - WAKE UP WITH BESSIE (Daily Inspiration for the journey) - https://www.facebook.com/Bessie-Barker-Freedom-Fighters-Daily-713561239092071
