WE WANT GOD TO CHANGE OUR CIRCUMSTANCES - BUT HE WANTS TO CHANGE US
Most prayers, if we are honest, are a laundry list of corrections to our current life conditions. Ways we think God could improve on what he is providing us, and how we promise to believe more or volunteer more if He would meet our expectations.
While there’s nothing wrong with specific prayer - in fact, it’s essential to lay the truth of how we feel and what we desire at his feet - there is a possibility we are missing the REAL gift He has for us.
The Apostle Paul said, “I know what it is to be in need and to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.”
DO you want the contentment of God in every circumstance? I know I do.
Truth is, God is less concerned with whether you have a new stuff and much more focused on where your heart is and what keeps you from Him.
We want God to change our circumstances, but He wants to change us.
When we allow Him in, for gentle heart surgery, it raises us up, ABOVE the wants and needs, to a place where we can see with crystal-clear vision who He wants us to help and how we can love better. And ultimately, isn’t that what life is all about?
He has a newness for you, ready and waiting like a beautiful unwrapped present.
