WHAT'S FIRST IN YOUR LIFE?
That cute slogan, "But first, coffee..." Is actually a subtle indicator of what we deem the most important. ~ I love coffee as much as the next person, in fact, I'm drinking mine now as I write... But should it really be first in my life? ~ What's first in yours? ~ I mean, if a detective was to track your whereabouts, your spending, who you meet and what you watch & create: could they determine that you love Jesus? ~ And is it possible that our preoccupation with other things, the things we think will bring us joy, could actually be stopping us from feeling His Joy that flows regardless of our circumstances? ~ Theologian, Oswald Chambers, wrote, "The first thing that will hinder this joy is the subtle irritability caused by giving too much thought to our circumstances." Jesus said, "...the cares of this world...choke the word and it becomes unfruitful" (Mark 4:19). ~ As we begin a new week, jammed full of mounting 'cares of the world', my prayer for you and I: is that we can look ABOVE it all and see Jesus. ~ See His blessings, even in what is taken away. See His provision, even as we feel lack. See His love, even as we feel alone. ~ 'God, please give us God-googles this week to look beyond what is temporary and see You who are eternal. And allow that Birdseye view to drive our decisions, our plans, and our care of others. We want YOU above what we can get. Amen'. ~ Philippians 4:12 "...I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want." ~
